Pick-up at your hotel and transfer to the jetty. Board your private boat for an interesting down river journey on the Irrawaddy River (2 - 3 h depending on river conditions) to SALE, a town that developed during the late BAGAN era. Explore the YOKE SONE MONASTERY with its exceptional woodcarvings on the outside of the building. Drive to MOUNT POPA (65 km - 1.5 h), an extinct volcano with spectacular views. Its shrine is dedicated to animist spirits known as "nats" and you will have time to climb the 777 steps to the shrine at the top of the peak. Lunch at local restaurant. Return to Bagan and stop at a typical local village as well as a toddy palm plantation. Lunch is included.
