Business Development Manager

Purpose of the role

The role of the Business Development Manager is an integral one in the development of new collaborative efforts and maintaining internal procedures with our offices in Indonesia. The suitable candidate will actively participate in the development of new and existing markets and products for its core business. The ideal candidate will be responsible for improving the organization’s market position in key markets through various marketing, product and sales initiatives on a pure B2B level to achieve the company’s goals.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Identifying and building relationships with existing and new customers with the aim to convert them into happy long-term clients
  • Assisting existing clients to ensure absolute customer satisfaction
  • Providing support to customers for product requirements and promotions in close cooperation with the different departments within the organization
  • Identifying and developing new itineraries or products which can be of interest to key markets
  • Cooperating closely with our marketing department at our corporate head office in the creation of sales collateral
  • Decision-making and giving guidance on customers, markets and products
  • Keeping our CRM up-to-date
  • Issue monthly hotel updates and newsletters and assist in the creation of any further marketing and sales collateral.

Qualifications:

  • Business-to-business (B2B) sales and/or marketing experience
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience with a tour operator, DMC or related tourism business
  • Strong commercial and communication skills
  • A creative mind but at the same time analytical and detail-oriented
  • Experience in tourism product development on a DMC level preferred
  • A sound knowledge of Indonesia and its destinations is a pre-requisite
  • IT literate and the ability to learn fast new systems and software setups
  • Fluency (written and spoken) in English. Additional European languages are an asset
  • Understanding and flexibility in approach with local ethical values and mentality
  • Pleasant down-to-earth personality and strong initiative
  • Innovative thinking
  • Strong market knowledge
  • A strong sense of responsibility and the ability to prioritize and organize are preferred skill sets to fill this role. Working under pressure is to be expected
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season. A “Can Do” attitude and positive thinking, includes creative thinking.
