Product Manager (Malaysia)
Purpose of the role
The role of Product Manager is an integral role in the development of our products inside Malaysia. The suitable candidate will set the tone and guide the various teams in sending newly developed tours and updated travel options for its customers as well ensure that rates with all suppliers are on par with the market. Based in Kuala Lumpur, the ideal candidate will become a part of a great team of travel professionals in Malaysia.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Responsible for product research and development
- Liaising with the customers to understand product requirements
- Quotations and program detail preparation and checks to be in line with the tour operators’ requirements
- Actively inspect new hotels, tourism sights and services and provide a report
- Assisting in the production of yearly catalogues for our business partners
- Ensuring that all relevant data is uploaded in Asian Trails’ administration system
- Prepare and update the annual tariff and itinerary descriptions
- Support the group marketing department with ideas and contributions for the various marketing channels
- Representing Asian Trails at trade shows, some travel may be required
- Yearly appraisal of subordinates
- Coordinate within the office on all outstanding issues and provide support for other activities as assigned by the General Manager
- Participate in new product research and development ensuring health and safety compliance as well as implementation of sustainability measures
- Facilitate in Asian Trails group marketing activities (acquiring new product, destination updates, article write-ups and managing content deadlines)
- Lead coordinator for Travelife sustainability compliance, implementation and certification for Asian Trails Malaysia
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in any related field
- English as mother tongue. Any other European language is an advantage
- At least 5 years’ experience in the tourism industry, product Management, tour guiding or similar role
- Ability to understand and adapt to the Asian Culture
- Creative and adventurous personality
- Positive and dynamic person with the ability to communicate well with all stakeholders
- Excellent product and destination knowledge is a requisite
- Able to work independently
- Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season. A “Can Do” attitude and positive thinking, includes creative thinking
- Able to handle sudden changes and emergency cases remotely
- This position is available for both foreign and Malaysian nationals
