Travel Consultant – Inbound Department (Laos)
Purpose of the role
This important role within the Inbound Department at Asian Trails Laos is responsible for arranging every aspect of a client’s travel plans. By providing clients with professional travel guidance, the successful candidate will help strengthen our existing customer base and develop new customer relationships.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Assist with MICE and Global market requests
- Create quotations in the system and follow up as necessary
- Keep files up to date and confirm bookings in the system and with clients if a request materialises
- Provide clients with up-to-date tour options, sustainable tours with correct travel information
- Renegotiate with suppliers or find new suppliers, services, products if necessary
- Make sure that all services are booked with local suppliers and hotels
- Once booking is confirmed, issue a pro-forma invoice and coordinate with accounting department regarding payment
- Follow up and stay informed of one’s own bookings while the guests are in-country until they depart
- Handle and reply to comments and complaints (if any)
- Regularly update booking status (request, option, confirmed, cancelled)
- Check costs for all bookings when requested by the Accounting Department
- Ensure company’s standard operating procedures are adhered to at all times
- Stay informed about tourism-related issues in the destination
- Perform any other duties requested by the management
Qualifications:
- University degree in tourism, business administration or foreign language
- Comprehensive travel industry knowledge (direct selling and tour guiding experience would be an advantage)
- Understanding of market trends and market segments
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English. Command of another language, such as French, German or Spanish is a plus
- Strong computing skills including use of full suite of MS Office programmes
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Well organised and proactive with clients
- Willing to travel from time to time, including to remote areas of the country
