Forbidden City temporarily ‘forbidden’ for visitors

Aligned with the 70th anniversary of the Communist Party in China, officials have announced that the area around Beijing’s Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden will be closed off for these celebrations. Besides the big day, 1 October 2019, various rehearsals will take place leading to this event. Main access roads, such as the famous Chang’An Avenue and accommodation within the vicinity will be off-premises for visitors and residents from the 21 September until 1 October 2019 inclusive.

Other areas just outside the Forbidden City may see restricted access which includes major landmarks, access roads from and to Chang’An Avenue and other venues for the duration and leading ahead of the scheduled parades.

Asian Trails China regrets that all excursions and tour options including the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square will not be operational during the aforementioned dates. Roads leading to surrounding venues and monuments will be cordoned off and/or are accessible for a limited period of time.
