Kulen Elephant Forest Siem Reap

Following the news of the permanent seizure of elephant rides at and inside Angkor Archaeological Park in northern Cambodia last year, the embattled elephant population has been transferred to a new retirement home. The sanctuary is located in a conservation area at the foothills of Phnom Kulen Mountain in central Cambodia, about an hour’s drive from Siem Reap.

A new sustainable attraction has been created at the sanctuary called Kulen Elephant Forest where visitors are allowed to see these gentle giants roaming freely in a natural habitat. There are half- and full-day tours to this new attraction.
