Shengsi Island: China’s latest hotspot beach destination

Shengsi is part of the Shengsi islands (or archipelago) cluster about 155km southeast of Shanghai. Known as the “Greece of China”, it is the latest island hotspot in China. It has several beaches including Golden Sand Beach in the north and Nanchangtu in the south with clean sea water.

The island is currently not overcrowded due to the more than three-hour journey from Shanghai by bus and ferry. Shengsi is ideal for a few days of getaway from Shanghai without having to fly. The best time to explore the island is during the warm season from June to September.
