Workshops at the Tanma Federation
Workshops at the Tanma Federation
Kuala Lumpur-based Tanma Federation was formed in 2010 by three ethnic Burmese women refugee groups in Malaysia – Mang Tha, Kaopro and Chin Women Organisation.
A fair trade cooperative run by and for refugee women, its programmes include training on livelihood skills, English language lessons, business/marketing skills development and financial literacy training
Asian Trails Malaysia has a half-day workshop to meet these women to discover the Burmese culture and learn their skills. Participants choose two workshops out of three – batik swing workshop, traditional Chin sewing workshop or soap production workshop. Proceeds go to support these women and their community.
