The Amne Machin Mountains: a fairytale landscape

Hiking opportunities are there in abundance when heading over to Asia. Yet there are a few destinations with an abundance of trails and untrodden paths that can compare with China.
Take the Amne Machin Snow Mountains in the far corners of Tibet in the Qinghai province. Multi-day walking tour to heights exceeding 4000 metres above sea level bring forward almost movie-set scenes, associated with computer-generated imagery.
But Tibet would not be Tibet if it adds a sense of religious realism to its landscape, such as making a visit to the nearby Kumbum Monastery.
