Indonesia - Dieng Plateau

Passing tobacco plantations, rice paddy fields and often unpaved roads, Central Java’s Dieng Plateau is not for your average traveler.
But what it does not have in infrastructure, it makes up in breathtaking beauty. Any number of walks across the volcanically active plateau is possible, often taking a day and one need to have some trekking and hiking experience.
For the more archaeologically interested traveler, the region has some smaller but unique Hindu temples, dating back from the 8th – 9th century.
