Laos - Baci Ceremony

Laos is a country of superstition and deep belief in spirit. The Baci (means “calling of the soul”) is a leftover from the time before Buddhism, it’s a private ceremony celebrated in many occasion like birth, wedding, before or after a trip…
During this ceremony, the shaman performing chants a prayer to call the spirits. The 32 good spirits are then symbolically tied around the wrist of the attendants, by means of a white cotton thread. The knots symbolize prosperity, health and good luck. The participation to a Baci is a memorable experience and an immersion into the Laos spirituality.
