Life Floats Along
on the Great Lake

The ‘Great Lake’ is the only source of income for fishermen and their families in Cambodia.
One of the largest freshwater lakes in Asia, Tonle Sap’s importance has expanded nowadays beyond the fishing industry; tourism, alternative means of agriculture and a reliable source for logistics from the capital Phnom Penh to Siem Reap during the wet season.
All villages and houses are either floating or constructed on stilts – including schools, a police station and even growing fruit and vegetables.
