Stairs up to Mount Qingcheng

Reaching the cradle of Chinese Taoism, one has to climb some stairs. Under UNESCO protection and dominating the Chengdu plains, Mount Qingcheng’s place in the history books is a solid one.
With various temples that date back to the Jin and Tang dynasties, the mountain still functions as a pilgrimage site as the spiritual centre for Taoism, founded by the Chinese philosopher Zhang Ling.
The region around the mountain carriers another marvel of human ingenuity – the Dujiangyan Irrigation System is a marvel in water management distribution and is still used in the current agricultural communities.
