Financial Controller

Purpose of the role
    This position is for our new joint venture company with one of the world’s leading leisure travel groups and the employment will be with the new company once established.
    The Financial Controller is responsible for all aspects of the day to day financial activities across all operating centres, including preparation of month end accounts, payroll, debtors, VAT returns, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, accruals and prepayments, audits and year end statutory accounts and tax compliance. The role is also responsible for setting and monitoring the performance of each department within the business in line with their set budgets. The role will implement and maintain all financial controls and systems within the business, identifying and recommending potential operational efficiencies and improvements to working practices and procedures.
Overall Responsibilities
  • Manage the payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, seeking improvement opportunities where possible.
  • Review and approve all month end reconciliations and control accounts
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts reports and commentaries for IDM/Thai Entity within agreed timeframe/standard, adhering to strict Group monthly reporting deadlines and Group policies
  • Management of external audit and statutory accounts
  • Contribute to the sourcing and creation/implementation of Service Level Agreements within Thailand
  • Performance Management of any allocated direct reports, monitoring of non- direct reports in line with company guidelines, ensuring employee development, engagement and succession planning.
  • Manage/monitor all legal compliancy associated tasks to ensure that we are operating as a legal entity within Thailand and all auditory measures are in place.
  • Manage financial performance, working capital and cash flow, adhere to financial procedures/reporting at all times
  • Support the new IDM structure in Thailand through all levels of business processes
  • Develop strong work relationship and communication with TC/IDM counterparts in Continental, UK and Northern Europe.
  • Contribute to the creation of the Budgets within destination ensuring monitoring income and expenditure and noting any concerns.
  • Work closely with other senior management roles within destination to ensure financial reporting/expenditure is in line with operational KPI targets
  • Initiate and manage finance related projects for IDM/Thai Entity at a high standard in time with the approved budget
  • Several years of experience of leading a Finance team, preferably within an international Group
  • Experience with the implementation and improvement of finance applications and processes, preferably in a SAP environment
  • Able to build strong internal / external relationships and influence others
  • Able to manage time effectively and prioritise multiple projects with the ability to monitor progression against deadlines and milestones
  • Has an interest and understanding of others, able to adapt management style to build team spirit and engagement
  • Analytical ability to review data with regards to trends, management of budget and forecasting abilities
  • Operational knowledge at a Management level within a destination, including Crisis Incident Management awareness
  • Able to focus on high standards for quality and quantity ensuring monitoring processes in place
  • Highly accurate and analytical, well organized and structured approach to work
  • Advanced excel skills enabling production of formulas, Pivot tables to deliver detailed and complex MI data.
  • Good commercial knowledge as well as a sound understanding of financial issues, including current accounting standards, to include internal and external audit requirements
