Project Content Writer (Freelance)

(12 month period)


Purpose of the role
    This exciting and challenging project role is for those who have an aptitude to connect our vision of Asia through descriptions and captivating text in English. The role of the content writer is to translate and streamline all of our itineraries in a similar tone. As part of the group marketing department, the content writer will help deliver factually accurate content for our Business-to-Business (B2B) customers. This will be conducted with strict adherence to our company style sheet. This position reports to both the Group Marketing Department and the project content manager.
Key Responsibilities / Job Description
  • Develop content strategy aligned with long-term marketing targets.
  • Collaborate with the head of marketing and project manager to plan and develop site content, style and layout in line with deliverables from the various Asian Trails offices.
  • Create and publish engaging and original content, capturing the vision, mission and core values of the company in proper UK English in a B2B format.
  • Edit, proofread and improve writers' posts aligned with pre-set standards.
  • Liaise with other content writers to ensure brand consistency.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international laws (e.g. copyright and data protection).
  • Develop and manage an editorial calendar with all content delivery deadlines and regular reporting.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments and generate new ideas to maximize audience attention.
  • Manage content distribution to online channels and social media platforms to increase web traffic.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Asian Trails' head of marketing and content project manager.
Qualifications / Desired experience
  • Degree in literature / journalism preferred, but not essential.
  • At least five years' professional experience in content writing / proof reading / editing in UK English - proof of past work is essential.
  • Fluent / native speaker in UK English (writing and reading). An additional knowledge of Spanish, Italian, German or French is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Able to structurally manage and maintain deliverables in a structured way.
  • Hands-on approach, including problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and hardworking / good team player.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office and other publishing software applications as required.
  • Knowledge of the travel business, or prior experience with a multinational company will be an added advantage.
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak periods. A 'can do' attitude and positive thinking, including creative thinking are requisites.
  • This position is open to foreign nationals only.
