TRAIL ITINERARY
08:30 - 16:00
An early morning departure from your hotel in Chiang Mai, accompanied by your English speaking guide, heads into northern direction, away from the city life that is Chiang Mai. For the coming 100 kilometres, the landscape slowly transforms into the wide spaces of Chiang Mai’s rural region. We may include a stop to admire the green vistas for a photo stop and get inspired for what lies ahead once we enter Phrao.
We commence our morning with relaxing – and perhaps a bit of exploration – at the Buatong Waterfall. As one of the leading sites of Phrao, its slowly cascading stream of small streams into a 100-metre long slope makes for an excellent stop. The cool and pleasant climate, with climbing opportunities to obtain a better vantage point and created by these falls, also is home to the Rainbow Spring – a natural phenomenon where sunlight hits the dew drops from the waterfall and creating a rainbow effect over the pond.
Enjoying the peacefulness and fresh air of the Buatong waterfall, we continue our Phrao quest towards Baan Luang, a small village that forms an accessible example of how the people of Phrao live in harmony with nature and meet every visitor like a friend. Chances that you are greeted by the head of the village are pretty large, affirming his appreciation of making it to Phrao. A simple yet delicious lunch is included before guests can explore Baan Luang by bicycle or by e-Tax car, a local vehicle used widely in Phrao.
The tour does not only give you an up and close look into the lives of its residents: a visit to a folk life museum showcase the habits and culture of these hospitable people in detail. Time to leave Phrao and the fantastic folk of Baan Luang and with your guide, you head back to Chiang Mai.
