A Hong Kong Foodie Walking Exploration

A Hong Kong Foodie
Walking Exploration

No visit to Hong Kong is complete without diving into its beloved food culture. From its noodle
dishes to dim sum buffets, no one should ever leave this former British enclave hungry.
This full-day walking tour delivers everything under the savoury sun.

WHY THIS TOUR?

A culinary journey from start to finish through one of Asia’s most dynamic cities brings forward the finest of local street food. The sounds of sizzling pans and the smell of Chinese herbs and spices fill the alleys of Hong Kong’s Kowloon and the island side as you saunter from eatery to eatery. What makes Hong Kong such a treat is that it has maintained that blend of East-Meets-West throughout.

Characterized by its modern, fast-paced lifestyle, the ever-present influences from mainland China are baked into its more traditional side of life. One of the few cities in the world where business people sit shoulder-to-shoulder with blue-collared workers as they enjoy their noodles, savouring away on dim sum while washing it all away with an herbal concoction. The mere thought of touching the heart and soul of gastronomical Hong Kong will leave you hunger for more.

Depending on the location of your hotel, the tour starts with meeting your English-speaking guide at the hotel lobby. This full-day tour delivers a true taste of old and new Hong Kong on this full-day tour of the main island and the Kowloon Peninsula.

We start the day on board the iconic Star Ferry and travel across Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui on the mainland to the Central District. This is the island’s commercial hub and retail paradise, with towering skyscrapers and glitzy malls. Here, the tasting journey starts with some of the best local delicacies and sip on signature drinks as you stroll through the metropolis. In between food stops you will see some key sights and experience the atmosphere of the capital, where as well as dining in restaurants you will also taste street food all the while learning about local Hong Kong food scene from your experienced food guide.

Following Hollywood Road, an area famed for its antique shops, and the historic Sheung Wan District, home to abundant markets and hip restaurants, it is particularly the food scene that gets into the spotlight. As we walk on foot, we experience a taste of local life and sample authentic cuisine in rustic restaurants, followed by lemon tea served in a traditional teahouse. We then head to Kowloon to visit the jade and flower markets, followed by Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, a favourite location for song bird enthusiasts.

The tour ends at the Ladies Market which stocks bargain clothes and souvenirs. In between the merchandise, small stalls with snacks and drinks enrich the Hong Kong food vibe further. You can opt to stay at this attraction longer and make your way back to the hotel at leisure.
