East Bali Ancient Culture and Blue Lagoon

East Bali Ancient
Culture and Blue Lagoon

Explore the peaceful east side of Bali. See elegant architecture and intricate
paintings at Kerta Gosa, snorkel in a beautiful blue lagoon and wander
the ancient streets of a traditional Bali Aga village.

WHY THIS TOUR?

East Bali is a quieter part of the island with peaceful havens just waiting to be explored. Blue Lagoon is a beautiful stretch of beach encircled by lush green and rocky hills on each side, creating a pool of turquoise water. The water is warm and sea life is abundant.

Take a step back in time in Tenganan, a beautifully preserved, ancient hamlet and one of just three remaining villages of the Bali Aga, believed to be the original inhabitants of the island. The layout of the village follows the rules of ancient architecture, and the inhabitants still practice the age-old crafts, customs and traditions of the indigenous Balinese.

TRAIL ITINERARY

East Bali Ancient Culture and Blue Lagoon

08:00 - 17:00

After departing from your hotel, your guide and driver will take you to Candidasa for snorkelling at the Blue Lagoon. Enjoy the underwater world with its coral reefs that lie just metres off the shoreline.

After drying off and helping yourself to some refreshments, continue to Tenganan Village. Take a walk through this beautiful and picturesque village passing by traditional walled compounds with intricately carved doorways.

The residents create handicrafts using traditional methods that have been inherited from their ancestors. Watch the local women weaving gringsing, a type of material also known as ‘flaming cloth’ which is said to protect the wearer from evil. The natural dyes they use are also unique, sourced from various indigenous tree barks, plants and herbs.

Your next visit is to Kerta Gosa in Klungkung, also known as the Hall of Justice. Built in the 18th century by the highest Raja of Bali, it was the location of a famous battle between the Dutch and the Balinese. After exploring the spacious, open halls with ceilings covered in colourful and intricate murals, you will be taken back to your hotel.
