TRAIL ITINERARY
Day 1
Arrival Bali – Manggis [-]
Guests will be warmly welcomed upon their arrival at Bali’s International Airport our own Asian Trails’ representative before guided to their air-conditioned vehicle. The luxury of fast –track services upon arrival are included upon your arrival and avoiding extensive queuing at the immigration. The approximately 1.5 hours’ (approximately 60 kilometres) in style and comfort brings customers to Bali’s uncharted east coast and your base for a culinary exploration of an incomparable nature. Your overnight address is the hillside sanctuary of Amankila, with unspoilt views over the blue waters of the Lombok Strait
The picturesque hillside retreat of Amankila provides the perfect gateway to Bali’s rich natural landscape and abundant cultural attractions. Set atop stilts amid the treetops, the 31 free-standing Balinese-style beach houses have private outdoor terraces to view the sublime scenery. Water sports such as scuba diving, sailing and paddle boarding can be enjoyed in the pristine waters. Like its sister property Amanwana, the menu at Amankila’s ocean-view restaurant focuses on fresh, locally sourced ingredients; ducks are raised at the resort’s free-range farm in Jasri village, herbs are nurtured in the resort’s garden and cold smoking is undertaken at the on-site smokehouse.
Private check-in procedures from the Amankila team is followed by an afternoon completely at leisure. Day 2
Manggis [B]
Uninterrupted views over the cerulean-coloured waters mark the arrival of your first full day nearby Manggis. It is breakfast, served with complimentary ocean views as the restaurant team welcomes you for a much-needed start of a new day. The choices are based on the principle that simple and fresh are the key ingredients. Expect nothing but the best available as you lounge around, enjoy your breakfast and feel the ocean breeze enter the semi-open dining concept.
Slightly off the beaten track, away from the well-known beaches of paradisiac Bali, Manggis’ unhurried lifestyle with its prime seafront location beckons visitors to adapt to a slower pace of life. The region has grown particularly fond for those in search of authentic seafood with a steady stream of fresh catches of the day entering its picturesque port. Ample restaurant choices for grilled, steamed or cooked deliciousness from the sea are lined up, eager to showcase their version of delectable recipes from Bali.

The pace at Amankila is slow, yet steady enough for soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and be guided by your wishes on how to fill in your day. Taking centre stage is the tiered infinity-edge swimming pool, maximizing the use of its panoramic vistas over the sea. Day 3
Manggis [B, D]
Aside from bringing the flavours of Bali to Amankila’s daily breakfast, it is the location with its impeccable views across the Lombok Straits that capture the essence of Manggis in the early morning. A varied and well-balanced selection of local cuisine and international favourites are at your disposal early in the morning before another day at a discerned paradise, only for the chosen few, takes off.
The resort’s location tends to keep guests mesmerized from early morning until late at night. Its slightly off-the-beaten-track positioning brings various excursion opportunities slightly closer when choosing one of the better-known beaches. Picking the right spot was one of the Amankila owner’s main features, ensuring to live up to the standards of the most discerned customers. We highly recommend not venturing too far away from this Manggis sanctuary, as the evening will all be bringing the tastes of Bali closer to you and your travel companions.

Keeping an empty stomach until 5 pm is almost a must: it is the time to meet your English speaking guide for the evening. Entering the authentic side of Eastern Bali commences as soon as you leave your air-conditioned vehicle upon your arrival at Amlapura, a part of the island that captures the culinary essence from A to Z. One may see a slight hesitation when seeing a cornucopia of local deliciousness reaching your retinas and nostrils, but assured by your guide, it will be a feast for all senses.
Like most of the Balinese, fresh food, grilled to perfection and prepared with spices, herbs and following recipes that have withstood the test of time, are the cornerstone of culinary delights. Your guide will not only explain what each dish is, but assures that joining the local community is not only seen as an honour, it also affirms that exquisite experiences do not only happen in Michelin-star rated cuisines. Be prepared to get slightly wobbly with plastic chairs and slightly-bend cutlery, but the fun (and particularly the taste) are amongst the things that will remain forever.
This feast for the eyes and stomach has to come to an end, and accompanied by your guide and driver, the evening ends with a comfortable, air-conditioned ride back to Amankila for the night over.

Day 4
Manggis – Departure Bali [B]
Matching breakfast with your scheduled departure time from Amankila to our next destination will be something worth considering on the final day of this culinary package. Following the resort’s check-out times and conditions, the deluxe vehicle, accompanied by an Asian Trails representative, will be waiting for you at the resort to bring you in comfort back to Bali’s International Airport.
