From Luang Prabang to Kuang Si by boat
From Luang Prabang to
Kuang Si by boat
Blissful and meaningful; tour elements that define this cruise up and down the Mekong to the amazement
that is called the Kuang Si Waterfall where visitors also get the chance to see how the bear
population is taking its sustainable place during this day.
WHY THIS TOUR?
Luang Prabang’s fabled town interior is seen as dazzling as the natural surroundings it is part of. The town of temples, monks and a languid lifestyle brings forward the cool and calming side of South-East Asia with French influences still lingering on in a positive sense.
Pure relaxation continues when the shores of the Mekong River are within eye sight and Asia’s most diverse and distinguished features form the playground of an endeavour to continue delivering on that chill-down definition. From the horizontal flow of the Mekong to the almost fairy tale, vertical displacement of water at the outstanding Kuang Si Waterfalls, more relaxed than this, we cannot make it.

TRAIL ITINERARY
08:00 - 15:00
Your morning starts with being warmly welcomed by your guide and tuk-tuk driver at your overnight address in Luang Prabang, followed by a joint transfer to the main boat pier. Depending on the location of your hotel and the stops made to allow other guests take part on this tour, the transfer will not exceed 20 minutes. Assisted by the captain and his trustworthy vessel, it is cruising time! Often go amiss in favour of seeing the intricate designs of Luang Prabang’s temples; the scenery on both sides of the Mekong is truly mind-bogglingly beautiful.
After disembarkation at the main boat pier leading to the Kuang Si Waterfalls, you continue for yet another tuk tuk ride to the Kuang Si Waterfalls, Luang Prabang’s most famous falls. Kuang Si is considered as Laos’ most beautiful waterfall and a must-see visit for those staying in Luang Prabang. This picture-perfect setting has turquoise waters cascading over three tiers of pools making this a popular spot for swimming and a place for picnics. Nearby, a visit to the Bear Rescue Centre is included: founded by “Free the Bears” Foundation, this sanctuary for injured and mistreated bears doubles as a research and education centre to protect the bear population beyond the Laotian borders.
Time to take a last peak in the dark eyes of these bears, it is time to make our way back to Ban Hong Kai boat pier for an upstream journey back to Luang Prabang. A simple four-course lunch will be served on board. A combination of Laotian dishes and international favourites (season depending) will be served before mooring back to Luang Prabang’s main boat pier, followed by a tuk-tuk transfer back to your accommodation.
