Stunning Memoires of an Angkor Era
No image can actually describe the jaw-dropping impressions when the first signs of Angkor enter
your retinas. Protected through UNESCO and the pride of Cambodia, even a renewed visit
shows why explorations of Angkor are known to never disappoint.
WHY THIS TOUR?
Tailored to amaze, this full day Angkor may just be the intro to see more. The governing seat of various Jayavarman kings dating back to 8th century, each with their own views on how to expand the grandeur of its kingdom, was long hidden from the naked eye.
No site ever has captured the imagination of explorers, archaeologists and movie directors as what lies behind the large entrance gates where elephants gently transported royalty and dignitaries around the vast grounds. Angkor is almost seen as a personification of the imagination, where hundreds of square kilometres are now accessible. Witness the charm and grandeur of what once was seen as the centre of the universe, a full day of Angkor highlights grasp visitors in its historical claws.

TRAIL ITINERARY
08:00 - 17:30
A guide and driver will warmly welcome you at your booked accommodation before heading over to the entrance gate of Angkor. For guests already in possession of an Angkor entrance pass, the drive to the first visit commences straight after entering the protected zone; those without an Angkor pass will require purchasing one at the main gate before entry is allowed. Our morning starts at the former Khmer Empire’s capital city of Angkor Thom. Situated north of Angkor Wat and enclosing this 10 sq-km site with eight-metre-high walls. Angkor Thom contains a large collection of sites such as Bayon, Baphuon, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of Elephants and Jayavarman VII’s palace although this no longer remains.
After lunch at a local restaurant, one of the more recognisable temples makes its appearance. Considered one of the area’s most intriguing temples and certainly the most famous thanks to its appearance in the film Tomb Raider, Ta Prohm is a jungle temple that has been almost left untouched since it was discovered retaining much of its mystery. It is the perfect lost in the jungle temple as strangler figs and kapok trees entwine themselves around its ruins. To end the day in style, we spend quality time at Angkor Wat, the pride of the country featured on its flag. This masterpiece of decorative details and architectural style is awe-inspiring with its five famous towers that rise into the sky. It has a geometrical arrangement of numerous galleries adorned with stone images of celestial Apsara dancers, chambers and courtyards reflecting the skill of Khmer architecture and the devotion to its gods.
We end this amazing day with a comfortable transfer back to your hotel in Siem Reap where you will arrive at approximately 5:30pm.
