Organic Thai Wellness at Nakhon Prathom
Organic Thai Wellness
at Nakhon Prathom
The importance of wellness makes up for an essential part of Thai culture, with ample opportunities
to try it out. This full day workshop combines elements of organic wellness by giving
visitors a hands-on intro of making spa products from scratch.
WHY THIS TOUR?
Suan Sampran in Nakhon Prathom, approximately 30 kilometres outside of Bangkok, is an institution in cultural preservation, working sustainably and has led the way in giving visitors an insight into the numerous aspects of Thai culture. Set across eight acres, the owners are very keen in maintaining its connection with the diversity of the country’s cultural values by using natural means and ingredients, often grown on the compound or sourced from nearby communities.
The health benefits of many of these spices, plants and even fruits have led to the development of a full day course in bringing these medicinal values into ointments and balms for oozing into relaxation and work towards a healthy body, mind and soul.
08:30 - 17:00
Your guide and driver for the day will pick you and your travel companions up from your Bangkok hotel in the morning for a private transfer to Nakhon Prathom. Arrival will be well ahead of the start of your workshop (starts at 10 am) so you have time to wander around the expansive grounds of this sustainable project outside the Thai capital. The morning starts with an introduction of your teachers for the day (English speaking only) and giving you an introduction on what’s in store during these 5,5 hour session. Ingredients for the day are picked from the resort’s herbal garden and plantation where you are guided in making herbal compresses. Following this wonderful-smelling first introduction, you head out to the spa where the actual making takes place under the guidance of the therapists at work and give you some helpful hints in self-massaging techniques.
Using nothing but fruit pulp as the base, making body scrubs is the next step in the process in getting the basics right in the art of organic Thai wellness techniques. The end result can be either used as the foundation for your own body scrub or take it home as a souvenir. After an intense morning, and to stay in the spirit of things organic, a healthy Thai set lunch is served at the Inn Chan restaurant at the Suan Sampran. The afternoon is all about making your own massage oil from scratch. The techniques used are time-honoured and perfected over the years and the one you’re making will be a proven cure for inflammation matters. You can take your own oil with you back home as a souvenir and when needed. At 3:30 pm, it is time to say goodbye to the team and together with your guide and driver, you will transfer back to Bangkok, where you will arrive at around 5 pm.
