TRAIL ITINERARY

13:30 - 17:00
Chiang Mai life from the river takes on a completely new persona once you had a taste of the city. The Rose of the North’s Mae Ping River splits the modern part with the more local side where temples, old wooden houses and local communities still thrive. We proceed straight from your hotel in downtown Chiang Mai to the Chaimongkol Docking Area of a gentle 45-minutes cruise over the Mae Ping River. Slowly navigating the river, you will see traditional wooden houses interspersed with modern residences, colourful scenery and witness the lifestyle of the local people. Life from the water will give you a different perspective on another side of Chiang Mai.
After this refreshing start of the morning, we head by local ‘samlor’ (a local bicycle taxi) to Chiang Mai’s oldest and largest market – the Warorod Market. With our guide, we wander along with the stalls where trade still goes on like the good old days. One will not only find fruit, flowers, vegetables and spices here but plenty of other goods and perhaps you may walk into a nice souvenir. The market is a beehive of activity round the clock, whether opting for an early morning visit or preferring an afternoon peek in local trading techniques, Warorod does not disappoint.
There will be plenty to see and do at the market, but unfortunately, this half-day tour may come to an end way too soon. We head back to your hotel by air-conditioned transportation after getting a 3.5-hour taste of local life in the Rose of the North
