the principles for preparing lunch or dinner during this half-day course.


What is there not to love about Thai food? Flavourful and with a plethora of cooking options to deliver it to your plate the way you like it, the world has seen Thai kitchen as one of the most favoured among its citizens. While eating your favourite dish, spiced and seasoned the way you like it, takes you to culinary heaven, preparing dishes is a whole different aspect of Thai cuisine.

But when brought with fun, a good dose of willingness to get your dish right and guided by industry professionals, Thai cooking may even turn out to be more fun-filled than actually tasting it. In line with this philosophy, we have teamed up with a skilful team of kitchen professionals who have turned an old wooden house into a centre of culinary creativity and education.

If you are staying within a three-kilometre radius of downtown Chiang Mai’s city canal, joint transfers from your downtown accommodation in this area are included. Travellers who have booked accommodation outside this radius are requested to arrange their transportation to the meeting point, which is the thriving Mae Hia Market. Your cooking ambassador will guide you through the basics to serve either lunch or dinner, the Pantawan Cooking School has been established with the prime reason to give aspirational chefs and those who are ‘virgin’ behind a cooking island, the basics in Thai cooking.

Set in an old Thai house, a 20 minutes’ drive out of Chiang Mai, the course will commence with an introduction to the team and what they have in store for you to prepare and sample at the end of your half-day journey through spices, herbs, vegetables and much more. Where else to start than at the local wet market, where customers receive an introduction to the ingredients they will be using for hours to come. Each upcoming master chef will have his / her cooking station, provided with all the utensils needed to cut, mash and stir the presented recipes to perfection and all this under the watchful eye of your Pantawan support team.

At the end of the course, and to follow in the footsteps of any chef, it is trying time! Together with the head chef and other participants, sampling your creation for either lunch or dinner end a great half a day learning the tricks and tips of Thai cuisine, ready to bring your gained knowledge back home and start impressing your family and friends. Customers will be brought back to their overnight address, aligned with the transfer conditions.

  • Return transfers from / to your booked accommodation from / to the indicated meeting point outside 3 kilometres from Chiang Mai’s city moat
  • Personal expenses such as meals, drinks, tips and gratuities, shopping, portage fees and optional tours, unless otherwise stated
  • Hotel accommodation in the destination of commencement.
  • Compulsory Christmas, country-specific festival and/or New Year dinner at included hotels
  • Single supplement charges for single travelers, where applicable
  • Any airline tickets, visa fees, additional transportation cost from and to the general meeting point
  • Supplements for transfers for customers arriving or departing from any airport or resorts located outside the general pick-up and drop-off locations
  • Hotel expenses of a personal nature, should an overnight be included: this includes mini-bar consumption, laundry, room service, any telephone or other communication cost not mentioned in the program
  • Travel insurance coverage for customers (highly recommendable)


  • This tour is operated on joint / Seat-In-Coach basis only with English-speaking instructor at the cooking school.
  • Transfers are only operated within a 3-kilometre radius from Chiang Mai’s city moat and restricted to main hotels only. Regions outside the central business district such as Mae Rim, Hang Dong, Doi Saket, Mae Taeng and Chiang Mai International Airport are excluded and supplementary charges apply.
  • We regret that we are unable to provide pick-up and drop-off transfer services from and to apartment complexes, local guest houses or private apartments. We advise you kindly to head on your own arrangement to the nearest hotel inside the downtown Chiang Mai area.
  • We will do all possible to comply with any dietary requirements during this excursion; it may not always be possible to confirm your wishes in advance based on the choice of dishes.
  • Featured menus for cooking classes may vary from season to season, depending on the availability of certain ingredients. Any example inside the description serves as an indication of what customers may learn to make.
  • We always will make efforts to confirm the exact pick-up time upon reservation. For any operational issues in which are not able to confirm the exact pick-up time in advance, we reserve the right to inform you the day before the departure of the tour.
  • It is the responsibility of the customer to provide us with the correct hotel information, should pick-up and drop-off services be included in the package. Any changes in accommodation outside 24 hours will be handled accordingly: changes within 24 hours may be on request.
  • In the event of no-show or change of accommodation without prior consent and confirmation from us within 24 hours may result in the applicable cancellation charges as outlined in the terms and conditions.
