Touring Bali’s POD
Chocolate Factory
Chocoholics, and those in need of satisfying their sweet tooth, need to head out to Bali’s Pod
chocolate factory with us. This sustainable and eco-friendly project will teach visitors
everything from farming, creating and tasting to making your creation.
WHY THIS TOUR?
As sweet as Bali itself, the Indonesian island has a long tradition with anything tasty. Stemming from a pure passion for chocolate, the founders of this well-known local establishment have taken their popular and highly palatable venture into new directions. It is all sharing the zest they have for sinking one’s teeth in quality chocolate and experiment with adding spices, nuts, unusual flavours and more into their creation.
The Pod Chocolate factory is one of the latest additions to the already extensive grounds of the Bali Elephant Camp at a local village called Petang. By using the best ingredients available, Balinese chocolatiers are trying hard to put the island on the map for die-hard chocolate fans, and the fruits of their labour can now be visited by those interested in the processes of making and tasting the finest chocolate available.

TRAIL ITINERARY
08:30 - 13:00
-
12:30 - 17:00
Transfer from your resort (conditions apply) is included and via a scenic road along with local communities, you arrive at the factory where you will be met by the staff, ready to show you around the factory. During this round, detailed explanations tell visitors about the organic principles this factory is upholding in terms of harvesting, fermenting and drying the cocoa beans to transform into fabulous chocolate. Part of the tour will be a walking tour through the cocoa plantations before the short walk to the factory itself. Sampling freshly plucked cocoa beans is, of course, included.
From harvesting and the fermenting process, visitors will witness how the grinding and tempering procedures turn these fresh cocoa beans into hot liquid chocolate. Tasting this end product and you will never look back and demanding only freshly prepared chocolate. The fun part of crafting your herd of small chocolate elephants – topped with whatever you feel will satisfy your taste buds – ends this sweet-tooth day in the green heart of Bali. Before leaving the factory (as it will take around 30 minutes to let the chocolate cool down), the enclosed Pod café serves some delicious, Balinese dishes including a selection of the best chocolate drinks on the island (not included in the price).
As soon as your brown-looking creations have cooled down, you can take your elephant-shaped creations back with you as we slowly move our way back to your resort in Southern Bali or Ubud. This is a family treat with a culinary trail so be ready get your sweet tooth tantalized!
