Trekking Through Langkawi’s Jungle

Trekking Through
Langkawi’s Jungle

The inner sanctum of Langkawi is a playing ground for trees, plants and wildlife. Away from the beaches
of this Malaysian example of paradise, a 3-hour hike through the dense rainforest is an
exploration of natural splendour like one only can find here.

WHY THIS TOUR?

Officially named Pulau Langkawi, a dreamy destination with its jungle-clad island core, blonde beaches, and being a shopping haven for souvenirs and handicraft, more tropical abundance lies just a boat ride away. Langkawi may display itself as a sole destination in Malaysia to lay your bath towel and chill, but it is the centre of 99 bounty-like islets, just waiting to be explored.

Nicknamed ’The Jewel of Kedah’, Langkawi’s traditional side is a collection of smaller Kampungs (villages), islanders are proud of their heritage dating back generations. Home of skilled local fishermen, Langkawi has been one of the not-to-miss bucket list destinations for those seeking that blend of seafood, island hopping, and rainforests views. No beachy shores insight this tour as you enter the flora and fauna world of Langkawi’s heart.

TRAIL ITINERARY

17:00 - 20:00

Getting into the Malaysian hiking and trek spirit, your guide-cum-driver for the day welcomes you at your resort lobby either in the morning or late afternoon. The trail leader on this 3-hour, moderate trek is a local expert with an insatiable knowledge of plants, trees and animals, eager to share his wisdom of Langkawi’s natural splendour. A short ride from selected beach resorts and regions heads straight to the starting point at the edge of Langkawi’s tropical rain forest.

Guided by the knowledge that Langkawi has more than enough to show for nature lovers, you follow in the footsteps of your guide along with numerous tree species, admiring birds and butterflies flapping away freely, and you may even see some mammals roaming the jungle grounds. Should you opt to commence later in the afternoon, the transition from daylight into the first shimmers of another evening in the jungle will certainly increase the chances to see more wildlife.

As you slowly make your way through the jungle, learning all there is to know about the flora and fauna on Langkawi, the jungle trek ends where you started entering your nature hike. Together with your English speaking trail leader, you are comfortably brought back to your booked accommodation along one of Langkawi’s main beaches to end a half-day through the island’s natural biodiversity.
