A powerful earthquake shook central Myanmar on Wednesday, killing at least three people including two children, and damaging scores of centuries-old Buddhist pagodas around the ancient capital of Bagan. While we are still gathering information we know today that, unfortunately, also some of the more important temples and pagodas have been damaged. Most of the pagodas affected have lost their Umbrella (top of the the pagoda) while temples have had their tip crumbling apart or stucco reliefs and ornaments falling down due to the tremors.
We would like to assure you that all our clients are safe and no one has been hurt. As the safety of our clients is our utmost priority, we will follow the instructions by the local authorities and which do not allow climbing any temples for the time being until they are deemed suitable to do so again. Therefore sunset viewing from above any temple is for the time being prohibited.
We will continue to monitor the situation and will be sending respective updates accordingly. Please do not hesitate to contact us anytime for any clarification you might need.
