Purpose of the role

The role of the Business Development Manager for our MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) department forms an integral role in the development of new collaborative efforts and maintaining internal procedures with our office in Vietnam. The suitable candidate will actively participate in the development of new and existing markets and products for its incentive and event business. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, the ideal candidate will become a part of a great team of travel professionals in Vietnam.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Identifying and driving new sales opportunities across the MICE market;
  • Spearheading initiatives and new trends, suited for emerging targeted market segment;
  • Maintaining excellent business relationships with business partners across the globe;
  • Managing and supporting the MICE Department and other colleagues with preparing quotations, itineraries and reservations;
  • Ensuring a smooth communication and cooperation with incentive houses according to guidelines in replying time on all aspects of the customer’s travel needs;
  • Negotiation of MICE services in line with the requirements from the customer;
  • Appropriate follow-up practices, including upselling of additional services;
  • Research and development of new products, venues and MICE-related services;
  • Fostering good relationship to hotels/suppliers;
  • Updating backend information of venues, suppliers, accommodation and other services, related for the MICE industry;
  • Preparation of pre-event inspection trips for project managers;
  • On-the-spot logistical, operations and customer support;
  • Work closely with colleagues from other departments and offices within the Asian Trails Vietnam head office;
  • The ambassador of Asian Trails Vietnam during trade shows, industry-related events and sales calls;
  • Other tasks as assigned by the head of the department and management;
  • Reports directly to the General Manager.

Qualifications

  • University / bachelor degree in the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a travel & tourism company – experience in a similar position is a prerequisite;
  • Proficiency command of English – both verbally and in writing – is essential;
  • Knowledge of Vietnam and its destinations is a must;
  • Able to delegate, cooperate and coordinate with all concerned person and institutions within the travel industry;
  • Experience with backend travel software is an advantage;
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and excellent computing skills;
  • The ideal candidate must be detailed-orientated, service-minded, some experience in negotiations and have a drive to deliver exceeding expectations;
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season. A “Can Do” attitude and positive thinking that includes creative thinking is an asset;
