Business Development Manager

Purpose of the role

The role of the Business Development Manager is an integral role in the development of new collaborative efforts and maintaining internal procedures with our office in Vietnam. The suitable candidate will actively participate in the development of new and existing markets and products for its core business. Based in Ho Chi Minh City, the ideal candidate will become a part of a great team of travel professionals in Vietnam.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Developing our business by finding new partners and maintaining and improving the relationship with existing clients
  • Liaising with customers to understand the requirements and anticipate on this in collaboration with all relevant departments
  • Managing and supporting the Inbound Department and other colleagues with preparing quotations, itineraries and reservations
  • Working with different departments in Vietnam and their respective managers with focus on sales, product development, operations, quality control measures and customer relations;
  • Ensuring that all relevant data is uploaded in Asian Trails’ administration system
  • Working in alignment with the company’s Standard Operating Procedures and corporate guidelines in the daily operation
  • Regular communication with new and existing accounts in these markets in working towards a mutually-sustainable growth and troubleshooting
  • Ongoing product development, pricing and itinerary developments for new and existing customers, based on trends and demands from these markets
  • Design and host/coordinate on inspection trips for agent familiarization trips leading to new business, and where needed, meeting customers in Vietnam
  • The ambassador of Asian Trails Vietnam during trade shows, industry-related events and sales calls
  • Other tasks as assigned by the head of the department and management.
  • Reports directly to the General Manager


  • University / bachelor degree in the hospitality and tourism industry
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a travel & tourism company – experience in a similar position is a prerequisite
  • Proficiency command of English and Vietnamese – both verbally and in writing – is essential
  • Knowledge of Vietnam and its destinations is a must
  • Able to delegate, cooperate and coordinate with all concerned person and institutions within the travel industry
  • Experience with backend travel software is an advantage
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and excellent computing skills
  • The ideal candidate must be detailed-orientated, service-minded, some experience in negotiations and have a drive to deliver exceeding expectations
  • Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and work flexible hours during peak season. A “Can Do” attitude and positive thinking that includes creative thinking is an asset
  • This position is open for Vietnamese nationals and foreigners
