Lao Airlines resumes Vientiane-Xiengkhoung route
Lao Airlines resumed domestic services between Vientiane and Xiengkhoung Province on 1 June 2025, providing new opportunities for travellers keen to explore some of the country’s lesser-visited destinations.
The 35-minute flight operates four times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – departing from Vientiane at 9 am and arriving in Xiengkhoung at 9.35 am. The return flight leaves Xiengkhoung at 10.15 am and lands in Vientiane at 10.50 am. The route takes passengers over the scenic, mountainous landscapes of Northern Laos aboard 70-seat ATR 72 turboprop aircraft.
This service supports growing interest in Xiengkhoung’s rich history and culture, including the UNESCO-listed Plain of Jars, wartime landmarks, hill tribe villages, natural hot springs, waterfalls and rice-farming villages.
