New UNESCO World Biosphere Reserves in Vietnam

Vietnam’s reputation as a land of biological diversity has been massively enhanced after UNESCO designated the Nui Chua National Park in south-east Ninh Thuan province and the Kon Ha Nung Plateau in the central highlands region as global biosphere reserves.

This takes the number of biosphere reserves in Vietnam to 11, one of the highest concentrations within a country. Perched at a height of 1,000-metres above sea level, Nui Chua National Park covers an expansive area of primeval forests and is home to a diversity of over 600 precious flora and an estimated 300 animal species.

The Kon Ha Nung Plateau also contains abundant wildlife, including the rare douc langur.
