Phu Quoc’s Specialties and Home Cooking

Phu Quoc’s Specialties
and Home Cooking

Foodies will have the time of their lives when going with us on a local market, seafood and short
cooking introduction, Vietnamese style. Ingredients such as pepper, fish sauce and
succulent seafood are key elements for a tasty half-day away on Phu Quoc.

WHY THIS TOUR?

As the beaches and nature predominantly work as a visitors’ magnet for Phu Quoc, the island has gained regional name and fame for producing some of the finest ingredients and spices around. Food and the preparation of traditional Vietnamese dishes are at the forefront of every social gathering in the country, prepared with fresh ingredients and flavours that enrich every dish to new palatable heights.

In recent years, tourism is becoming a golden key for the economic development of the island, and the island’s food culture is gearing up to become an inspiration. And with this, the demand for tasty outdoor treats brings customers closer to its local cuisine. It is during this morning that we venture away from the tourism hot spots and find ourselves among factories, plantations and farms for a taste of the local specialities.

TRAIL ITINERARY

Phu Quoc’s Specialties and Home Cooking

08:00 - 13:00

The tour commences at a central meeting point on Phu Quoc, called I Love Phu Quoc Restaurant & Bar (transportation from and to your resort is excluded) where you will be warmly welcomed by the team that runs this local establishment. Your guide for the morning assures that all guests are accounted for before as we move along from the restaurant to one of the established markets on the island. It is a sheer pleasure seeing all kinds of fresh fish and other delicacies from the ocean being prepared for consumption. Many Vietnamese dishes find their characteristics in blending spices and sauces to give it a true taste of Vietnam.

We continue our morning for a visit to a pepper farm and one of the leading factories, famous around the country for its Nuoc Nam (fish sauce). These two stable ingredients in its cuisine have put Phu Quoc on the culinary map as its trademark products. A tour as such would not be complete without getting a hands-on introduction to true Vietnamese cooking; we meet a family at their home where you will be guided in the preparation of two or three, fairly easy to make, dishes. Your efforts in the kitchen will be put to the test when you can finally try out what you have cooked during lunch at this family’s home. This hospitable family is eager to add some of their cooked dishes to the table, making it a culinary feast.

You will have some time to let lunch settle in before your guide for the day brings you back to the meeting point where you will make your way back to your Phu Quoc resort on own arrangement.
