A New Walking Street Market in Phuket

Visitors to Phuket have an added attraction to explore with the opening of a new street market in the island’s historic Old Town.

The inaugural Chartered Walking Street is on the 5 November and it will be held every Sunday on Phang Nga Road, from 4 pm until the late evening.

Tourists can browse stalls selling authentic street food, drinks, souvenirs, clothing and handicrafts, with a stage set up for music and cultural performances. An area of the market will be closed to traffic during operational hours.

Phang Nga Road is worth exploration as it is home to some impressive Sino-Portuguese style buildings, including the old Kasikorn Bank, the former Standard Chartered Bank, which is now the site of the Baba Museum and also the Chinese-style Shrine of the Serene Light.
