A night at the temple in Hanoi
Beginning this August, a new after-dark experience will offer visitors a captivating glimpse into Hanoi’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
Inspired by ancient Vietnamese legends and history, The Bell of Tran Vu takes place at the historic Quan Thanh Temple in Ba Dinh District. The 90-minute programme blends theatrical performance with a twilight walking tour of the temple’s grounds.
Centuries-old spiritual practices come to life through traditional demonstrations, including incense offerings, ceremonial music and folk opera. After the performance, guests are led on a moonlit walk, where sacred relics, such as the iconic bronze bell and ancient stone lamps, are revealed.
Along the way, stories from the nearby Truc Bach and Ngu Xa villages, renowned for their artisanal crafts, are told. Guests can also take part in tea ceremonies, admire the art of calligraphy, try on traditional costumes and browse locally made crafts.
With a capacity of up to 100 guests per session, The Bell of Tran Vu is more than just an evening tour, it is an immersive cultural journey that weaves together spiritual storytelling and Hanoi’s artistic heritage.
