Cambodia’s Currency: Past to Present

Delve into 2,000 years of socio-economic history at the fascinating SOSORO Museum in Phnom Penh. Located in the heart of the capital in a heritage building that was a former town hall residence, this intriguing attraction features interactive exhibits and multimedia presentations focused on the crucial importance of money in building the country’s independence and sovereignty.

SOSORO has been designed to provide a unique perspective on Cambodia’s history, with an insight on the constant interaction between money, the economy and politics. This is the only institution in the country where visitors can learn about the Khmer Empire during the Angkor era and its decline; the rebirth of the monarchy; French colonisation; the Khmer Rouge regime; and the reconstruction of the country until the present.

Asian Trails’ excursion to this site gives access for an entire day, with an onsite cafe for food and beverages. To include this experience in your next Cambodian journey, contact res@asiantrails.com.kh
