New high-speed rail and road routes boost travel
A new high-speed railway connecting Chongqing and Qianjiang (Yu-Qian) is scheduled to open on 1 July, 2025 – reducing the travel time from four hours to around two-and-a-half hours.
The new link will allow passengers to ride the high-speed network from Xianfeng and Laifeng counties in Hubei’s Enshi Prefecture to popular destinations such as Zhangjiajie, Chongqing, Xi’an and Guilin.
Additionally, a new expressway linking Zhangjiajie and Yichang is set to open on 1 October, 2025. This route will cut the road journey to around two-and-a-half hours – improving accessibility to Zhangjiajie, famous for its towering sandstone pillars, and the Yangtze River’s famed Three Gorges.
