Phu Quoc Island power update
Asian Trails would like to inform our partners and clients about potential power supply issues that may affect travel on Phu Quoc Island over the next three months due to ongoing cable repair work.
On 29 November 2025, construction on a coastal road damaged a 110 kV undersea cable connecting Ha Tien City and Phu Quoc Island, causing a week-long power outage across the island’s northern region. Many tourism facilities and over 30,000 households were affected.
Following this outage, the An Giang Electricity Company has confirmed that power has been successfully restored through a temporary solution. Rather than waiting for full repairs, technicians installed a temporary overhead line and connected it to the undersea cable.
This intervention will secure the island’s power supply while the complete restoration of the undersea cable continues – a process expected to take several months, weather permitting.
Asian Trails will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates. For more details or assistance with upcoming bookings, please contact Asian Trails Vietnam.
