Preserving age-old practices in Singapore

Our Singapore product specialists have added a visit to a non-profit organisation in the Lion City that provides guests with an insight into Kampung culture.

Kampung is a neighbourly spirit rooted in the country’s past and one that binds compatriots through a connection to nature and age-old creative pursuits. To partake in this philosophy, a tour to the Ground-Up Initiative’s (GUI) campus includes a two-hour workshop, with instruction in the use of wood to create contemporary works of art. Guided by craftsmen and using 100 per cent reclaimed wood, GUI’s upcycling vision is slowly leaving a responsible mark across the city-state.

Creations made during the hands-on sessions directly contribute to keeping authentic cultural values alive in one of the most futuristic destinations on the planet.
