Singapore achieves sustainable destination award
In March 2023, Singapore became certified as a sustainable destination by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). The island state is the first country to complete the certification process.
Providing global sustainable standards for public policy-makers and destination managers, as well as for hotels and tour operators, the GSTC forms the guiding principles that help protect and maintain the world’s natural and cultural resources, while also highlighting tourism as a tool for conservation and poverty alleviation.
This award reflects Singapore’s efforts and commitment in becoming a sustainable urban destination and follows similar achievements by the nation’s key tourism partners such as the Sentosa Development Corporation, Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands Singapore, which also achieved certification based on the relevant GSTC criteria.
Asian Trails is proud to support the efforts of the Singapore Tourism Board as the nation continues on its journey to achieving the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and becoming a City in Nature, where large experiences come with a small footprint.
