A Yangon landmark returns

Yangon’s legendary hotel, The Strand Yangon, is poised to welcome guests following several years of closure.

From 1 June 2025, visitors can return to experience the grandeur of one of Myanmar’s most iconic luxury hotels.

First opened in 1901, The Strand is housed in a beautifully preserved colonial-style building and has stood as a symbol of timeless elegance for over a century. Comparable to prestigious heritage hotels like Raffles Singapore and The E&O in Penang, The Strand remains a cherished architectural treasure in Asia.

In 2019, the property became the first hotel in Myanmar to be awarded a blue plaque by the Yangon Heritage Trust, recognising its contribution to the city’s cultural and historical landscape.

During the initial phase of reopening, 17 guest rooms will be available, with more rooms to become available in the near future. The hotel has undergone essential maintenance during its closure, including a fresh coat of paint and deep cleaning.

Guests can enjoy the swimming pool, as well as hotel’s bar and restaurant. For bookings and further details, contact Asian Trails Myanmar
