Upgrade to Bangkok’s Green Mile

A revamped green bridge connecting two of Bangkok’s most popular city parks will enhance access to the largest green spaces in the central business district.

City hall has announced that an upgraded 1.6-km pedestrian and cycling path linking Lumpini and Benjakitti parks will open in September 2022. The facelift of the 1999 structure includes an elevated park, improved bike and running lanes and rest areas.

Founded in the 1920s, Lumpini covers 500,000 sq-m and it is home to abundant flora and fauna, including large monitor lizards. First opened in 1994, Benjakitti has undergone an expansion into a 480,000 sq-m green space on the site of a former tobacco factory.

The 650 million baht (US$19 million) development includes walkways, running tracks and cycle routes spread over 10-km, plus water features, a trade show pavilion and a museum.
