Air India revives Shanghai route

India’s national carrier, Air India, resumed direct flights between Delhi and Shanghai on 1 February 2026, strengthening air links between the two major hubs.

The move improves connectivity between India and China and, combined with the recent extension of visa-free travel in China, offers travellers greater choice, convenience and accessibility.

The Delhi–Shanghai route operates four times weekly using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 18 fully flat beds in Business Class and 238 seats in Economy. Designed to serve both corporate and leisure travellers, the flight delivers improved comfort and reduced journey times.

Subject to regulatory approvals, Air India also plans to launch non-stop flights between Mumbai and Shanghai later in 2026. For more information, contact Asian Trails China.
