Borobudur Temple now open daily

Travellers can now experience the wonders of Indonesia’s Borobudur Temple every day of the week. Previously closed on Mondays, the shrine is now open daily from 8.30 am to 5 pm.

Access to the upper levels of this iconic structure – up to the ninth level – is limited to 1,200 visitors per day. To ensure entry, Asian Trails strongly recommends purchasing tickets in advance. There are no restrictions for those wishing to explore the grounds at the base level.

Nestled in the scenic Kedu Valley of Central Java, this 9th century temple and UNESCO World Heritage Site is the world’s largest Buddhist monument. It features nine platforms, 504 Buddha statues and 2,672 relief panels that depict the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. Visitors also take in sweeping views of a lush landscape framed by rugged mountains.
