China introduces power bank restriction

China has introduced new regulations that restrict the use of uncertified power banks on all domestic flights within the country. Only power banks with a clearly visible 3C certification label are permitted on board. This rule came into effect on 28 June 2025 and applies to all passengers flying to destinations within mainland China, including those departing from Hong Kong SAR and arriving in the mainland.

As most international power banks do not have the required 3C certification, Asian Trails advises travellers to leave uncertified devices at home. To stay connected while travelling, travellers may consider renting or purchasing a compliant power bank upon arrival in China.
