Full Day Eight-Dimensions Experience in Chongqing

From the hotel, head to the Crown Escalator, the second longest in Asia (the longest is in Korea). The escalator is 112 metres-long, the slope is steep and the journey is fast – clocking in at two minutes and 30 seconds from bottom to top. It offers an insight into how Chongqing has adapted to mountain life.

From one unique mode of transport to another – your next experience is a train that passes right through a 19-storey building. From Zengjiayan Station to Liziba Station, commuters on this unbelievable train pass through a tunnel built through a residential high-rise.

Then take the Yangtze River Cableway which connects both sides of the Yangtze River in just six minutes, whisking you high in the sky across the water and offering wonderful views of the city.

It’s now time to stretch your legs with a stroll along Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street. Surrounded by skyscrapers and lit up with neon signs, Jiefangbei is a bustling district. It is centred around the People’s Liberation Monument, which marks the Chinese people’s victory in the Sino-Japanese War. The fashionable pedestrianised street has a cosmopolitan feel, with designer boutiques, modern shopping malls, cocktail bars and sophisticated restaurants.

Our final type of transport is the ferry, the preferred way of travelling around the city in the olden days. Rub shoulders with the locals as you ride the ferry from Chaotianmen Port to Danzishi Port to see the city from a different perspective.
