TRAIL ITINERARY

Sham Shui Po Foodie Adventure

10:00 - 13:30

What better way to start this culinary exploration of Sham Shui Po than with two breakfasts! The first will be at a traditional cha chang teng eatery. A cornerstone of Hong Kong culinary culture, these local diners are popular for their down-to-earth and affordable menus stuffed with local comfort food. Your second breakfast is at another local cafe to try a mainstay of the early morning diet, steamed rice rolls.

Next, visit a soy specialty store that only sells healthy soy products. Take a gulp of some of the freshest soy milk and learn more about soy bean cuisine.

Continue to a braised goose restaurant where you can see the chef adapt traditional Chiu Chow region cuisine for Hong Kong palates. This style of cooking, usually using goose meat, originated in China and was brought to Hong Kong by migrants in the 1950s. By now, you may be wanting something sweet, so satisfy these cravings with a visit to a popular bakery to sample two types of freshly-baked cookies.

For the inhabitants of Hong Kong, a bowl of hot steaming noodles is the ultimate comfort food. At the award-winning, family-run ‘Oodles of Noodles’ restaurant, you can feast on hand-made fresh egg noodles smothered with a special topping.

You will leave this gastronomic tour with a new-found appreciation of Hong Kong’s exceptional cuisine.
