Soft Trekking to Kuang Si Waterfalls
A trekking adventure reveals the beauty of the serene countryside close to the provincial capital Luang Prabang. We depart the hotel and drive for an hour to the ethnic Khmu village of Ban Long Lao Neuang, followed by the nearby Hmong Village of Ban Long Lao Song. We observe the lifestyle of these two different minority groups. Despite their cultural differences, they still work together and share the same school. We continue our exploration along a trail alongside rice paddies and vegetable fields. We make a stop at a cave that was used as a sanctuary by local villagers during bombing raids in the time of the Second Indochina War. After a one-hour trek, we will reach the spring that feeds the three-tiered Kuang Si Waterfall and view the water cascading down a 60-metre drop into spectacular azure pools. We can enjoy time swimming here to cool off. We then visit a bear rescue centre that provides a haven for bears rescued from animal poachers. We enjoy a late lunch at the nearby Carpe Diem Restaurant, before our return to Luang Prabang, with the rest of the day at leisure.
