After Dark Foodie Tour
As the sun goes down, our appetite traditionally heats up and this evening foodie tour will satisfy our hunger for classic Laotian cuisine. As the gastronomic capital of Laos, Luang Prabang is the best place in the country to savour a range of fresh and tasty local dishes. With French influences from a bygone colonial era still tangible, Luang Prabang’s culinary foundation has also captured cooking styles and ingredients from Laos’ direct neighbours. We journey from street stalls and hidden restaurants and bars to the food alley at the Night Market. Located right along the banks of the Mekong, a small street stall serves thinly baked crepes, stuffed with eggs and flavoured with what is in season. The market is a haven for local dining establishments with a speciality for sausages, fried mushrooms, coconut dumplings and the almighty papaya salad – cooked Laotian style with a lot of heat! A dedicated street fills a hungry void and, in the evenings, locals sit shoulder to shoulder to savour classics such as khao poon (spicy noodle soup), laab (minced meat salad) and sien savanh (Lao beef jerky). This tour runs from 6 pm to 9pm.
