Weaving ancient Angkor traditions
Weaving ancient Angkor traditions
Join a half-day silk weaving workshop and step into the world of traditional craftsmanship, guided by the experts at Artisans d’Angkor who bring centuries-old weaving techniques to life.
Guests gain hands-on experience operating a traditional loom, learning the intricate skills of threading, tensioning and weaving. The process fosters a deeper appreciation for the precision and artistry behind each intricate piece.
Participants engage in the full silk-making journey – from cultivating silkworms and harvesting silk to dyeing with natural pigments and mastering traditional ikat weaving techniques.
Guests can create a personal woven piece to take home, a meaningful souvenir that reflects both craftsmanship and cultural heritage. The activity also includes a guided tour of a silk farm, offering an in-depth look at the silk production lifecycle, from mulberry tree to spun thread.
Throughout the workshop, visitors connect with local artisans whose work supports rural communities and preserves one of Cambodia’s most treasured artistic traditions.
