Gamelan and dance workshop in Bali

Gamelan music and dance are a unique and colourful part of everyday Balinese life, deeply intertwined with Indonesian culture. (Gamelan is the traditional Javanese and Balinese ensemble music made up of percussive instruments).

For incentives interested in Indonesia’s musical and cultural history of Indonesia, Asian Trails has arranged a half-day workshop for groups of 25 delegates maximum at Mekar Bhuana Conservatory with local experts, Vaughan Hatch and his wife Putu. They created Mekar Bhuanna to restore and revive this fascinating art form. The workshop gives an in-depth explanation of the history of gamelan and traditional dance.

Guests are introduced to the various instruments, costumes and masks through demonstrations and videos. They learn some basics so they can get hands on with the gamelan and dance.
